Annual Light Exhibition Inspires Family (Spark Page)
Starting in 2019, the annual Festival of Lights event now includes the addition of a newly renovated Foster family light display, with origins dating back 60 years ago, when it was first created by Don and Rita Foster in honour of their lost son Billy and his friend, both tragically killed in a car accident.
Today, the Festival of Lights proudly represents a much larger community spirit of tradition, a regional remembrance which has spread throughout the Bay of Quinte to visibly expose the heart of a city that together celebrates people they love.

Bernard holds a scale model of his angelic, red-and-white favourite, which normally sits on the front dash. Foley jokes that cars have always been his first love, and women are his second.
“Women can take you for everything you’ve got, and you end up with nothing,” he laughs, as his wife rolls her eyes outside, “But cars will take you for a ride, and you just fix them up when they break down.”
A&W Car Show Sparks Memories (InDesign Page)
Engines continue to rev up in anticipation this month, for the official season wrap of the A&W Show and Shine; a series of ‘cruise nights’ which run between May 7 and Oct. 8, 2019 in Belleville, Ontario.
The show on Sep. 17 began as host Gladys LaBelle played Elvis Presley’s ‘Return to Sender’ over the loud system, and shiny cars from all over the Bay of Quinte area started to roll up and pack in like sardines.
“The event often averages 140 cars on a regular night.” Says LaBelle. The second-to-last show however, is largely considered to be the most important event of the season. Located at Belleville’s local A&W fast food restaurant, the show always features more variety than usual.
